How to Change the Starting Area of Your Satisfactory Server

Quickly rename your server so players can recognize and join it more easily.

When setting up a new Satisfactory world on your RocketNode server, you’ll be prompted to choose a starting area. Each zone offers a unique terrain layout and resource distribution, impacting how you’ll build and expand your factory.

This guide explains the differences between the four starting zones and how to update or change your choice later.

Choosing a Starting Area

When adding your server in the Server Manager, go to the Create Game tab. Here, you’ll be able to select one of the four starting areas:

Grass Fields

Ideal for beginners

An open and relatively flat area, perfect for first-time players. While resource nodes are a bit spread out, it’s a great place to learn the basics of factory building.

Rocky Desert

Beginner-friendly with good balance

Well-balanced in terms of resources, space, and accessibility. Close to water sources, making it easier to set up early power. A solid all-around choice.

Northern Forest

Challenging but rewarding

With uneven terrain and dense vegetation, this area offers rich resources but requires more advanced planning. Recommended for players who enjoy vertical building and tighter layouts.

Dune Desert

Best for experienced players

A massive open space filled with high-yield mining nodes—but with limited water and foliage. Early-game power can be tough to establish here. Great for long-term, large-scale factories.

After selecting your starting zone, give your session a name and click Create Game to begin.

How to Change Your Starting Area

There are two ways to change your starting zone after creating a session:

  1. Create a New Session

If you want a clean slate, return to the Server Manager and create a new session. You’ll be able to choose a different starting zone during setup.

  2. Relocate the HUB

You can also move your HUB to another part of the map. Since the HUB acts as your spawn point and factory base, relocating it allows you to shift your focus to a new zone without starting over.
