Changing the Server Intention in DST

The intention setting determines the tag that appears next to your server in the public server list. It helps players understand the server’s general purpose or theme.

Method 1: Change Intention Using the RocketNode Panel

1. Log in to the RocketNode Game Panel.

2. Select your Don’t Starve Together server.

3. Stop the server from the Overview tab.

4. Go to the Configuration tab and open Startup.

5. Find the INTENTION field.

6. Replace the current value (e.g. cooperative) with one of the official supported tags:

   • cooperative – Friendly, team-based survival
   • competitive – PvP or challenge-based
   • social – Casual, relaxed environment
   • madness – Anything goes, unpredictable

7. Go back to the Overview tab and start your server.

Method 2: Change Intention via Config File

1. Go to the File Manager tab in your panel.
2. Navigate to: /DoNotStarveTogether/config/server/cluster.ini
3. Find the line: intention = cooperative
4. Change the value to your desired option: intention = madness
5. Start the server again from the Overview tab.

What Does the Intention Tag Do?

• It appears next to your server name in the in-game server browser.
• It helps attract the right kind of players based on your server’s vibe or rules.
• It doesn’t change gameplay mechanics—only how your server is labeled.
