Changing the Server Description in DST

The cluster_description setting controls the short message that appears below your server name in the in-game server browser. It’s useful for describing your world, playstyle, rules, or any custom features.

Method 1: Change the Description Using the RocketNode Panel

1. Log in to the RocketNode Game Panel.

2. Select your Don’t Starve Together server.

3. Stop the server from the Overview tab.

4. Go to the Configuration tab and open Startup.

5. Locate the CLUSTER DESCRIPTION field.

6. Replace the existing description (e.g. Welcome to my RocketNode DST server!) with your custom message.

   You can use up to around 100 characters. Symbols, punctuation, and spaces are supported.

7. Return to the Overview tab and start your server.

Method 2: Change the Description via Config File

1. Open the File Manager tab in your panel.
2. Navigate to: */DoNotStarveTogether/config/server/cluster.ini
3. Locate the line: cluster_description = Welcome to my RocketNode DST server!
4. Change the text to your desired description: cluster_description = PvE world with caves, no griefing. Join us!
5. Start your server again from the Overview tab.

Tips for Writing a Good Server Description

• Mention any special rules, mods, or server type (PvE, PvP, Vanilla, etc.)
• Keep it concise and easy to understand.
• Avoid special formatting or long paragraphs.
